This is a blurry picture of me, circa 1974ish
with my Grandparents, Clark and Dora Veater
I was the 14th of 25 grandkids and I'm telling you, I was their absolute favorite.
Any cousin who reads this and has a problem with
that statement can come down here and arm wrestle me.
Anyways, notice their age? They aren't exactly young grandparents.
My Mom is their youngest, and she was born when they were
well into their 40's.
I'm pretty sure she was an oopsie.
Or to be PC.... a SUPRIIIIIIIISE.
But I digress.
I always wanted to be a young mom.
So I had kids at ages:
20
24
29
32
And WALA!
I was a young mom.
But then Hughes happened.
So then I got kids at ages:
40
41
42
AND....
44.
FORTY FOUR people.
But you know what?
If my Grandma Dora could do it.
I can do it.
And I will.
Dear Grandma Dora:
Thanks for showing me the way.
I miss you.
I love you so much.
And I won't let you down.
Even when I'm exhausted because
I'm WAY too old to be raising babies.
I will remember you. You did it. I can do it.
And I promise.
I won't let you down.
xo,
M
