It all started with the bird.

I was pretty happy with my mantle. I especially love the vintage shots of me and my two same-age cousins, Marty and Adam, circa 1970ish. We are all basically naked. That's just how we did it in the 70's.

Anyways, I did love my mantle, but something was missing. I couldn't quite put my finger on it. I was thisclose, but couldn't figure it out.

Then there was the trip last Saturday to Goodwill. And that's when I saw it. The little white ceramic bird. The perfect little white ceramic bird that cost 1.99. And look how it completes my mantle! It just really completes it.

It's perfect.

Thank you to M. Meyers, from Sun City, Arizona, who painted the little birdy in some fabulous ceramic class, as noted on the bottom of the little birdy. Thank you M. Meyers from the bottom of my heart.

I now l.o.v.e. my mantle.

So today, 2 and I went back to Goodwill. It is half off Saturday. We don't miss many half off Saturdays. And just LOOK what 2 spotted. TWO MORE perfect birdies. Painted by the very same M Meyers from Sun City, Arizona. And today they were only .99 cents each! Hooray!
Just look at them. Sigh.
And even though I'm not sure if I'm quite done with the groupings on my piano, I am definitely getting closer..... (Please try to not notice that we still don't have base board. This house is going to be a constant work in progress for months to come)
In other shopping stories from today..... We are doing 2's room. Finally. She is, surprisingly, going a little Shabby Chic.

Mommy likey.

She wanted a small floral arrangement for one of her shelves, and this is what we came up with. Those black round things aren't shadows, they are pom pom flowers. Aren't they awesome? And the bird. Holy Moly, the bird is the bomb.
I created this arrangement myself. It was a big moment for me, as floral arrangements usually completely intimidate me.
Like this one, below. This is the arrangement I imagined in my head but in no way had the wherewithal to attempt. No. Way. It is in my entry way and it is ridiculously spectacular and it has aqua flowers and hot pink feather flowers and red flowers and baby apples. They thought I was crazy in the brain when I was picking out my flowers, but I had a vision. And I love it. But did I arrange it? Heck to the no. That's why I'm so super excited about the shabby arrangement. Yay!

And our other Goodwill finds? Patent leather raspberry mary janes with a high heel for me, and this crazy adorable shirt for 2. Total shopping bliss.
We have lots of other goodies for 2's room. We can't wait to show it off when it's done.... stay tuned!
