4 used to dance. She danced and danced and danced. Halfway through her dance career, she decided to change careers. She wanted to be a cheerleader. An all-star cheerleader. So she said goodbye to dance and hello to cheerleading.
However, 4 had kind of a problem. Unlike many years ago, it is now way more important to actually DO cheerleading than just BE a cheerleader. 4 was, at the ripe old age of nine, kind of getting a late start.
Her dance skills didn't let her down though, and she made level 2. No level 1 for 4. No way.
But dance skills aside, to be a level two all-star cheerleader, you must have a round-off backhandspring. 4 did not have a round-off backhandspring. Not even close.
What 4 did have, however, is a big sister named 2. An ex high-level gymnast who is now a much sought after private-lessons coach at the very gym 4 will be doing cheer.
I'm not going to lie, 2 is expensive. Very worth it, but expensive.
PROOF THAT MY 2 AND 4 DO LOOK ALIKE. CHECK IT OUT YOU NAYSAYERS | ! |
But 2 is also something else. She is a big sister. She is a big sister who loves her little sisters with a fierceness that sometimes goes unnoticed. She is a big sister who would do anything to help 4 succeed.
And so, without me even asking, she started giving privates to 4. Privates where she could be earning big bucks from another customer. Instead, giving them for free to help her sister. She schedules them and reminds me and reminds 4. She gives 4 homework to help her flexibility and strength and she encourages 4 and she almost never gets irritated at her. Almost never. All just to serve her sister. And to help her be the best she can be.
And do you think 4 has her round off back handspring? Of course she does. 2 is good, you guys. She is really good.Dear 2:
Thank you. For everything.
Love,
Mom
