Views In The Farmhouse #28

I am totally addicted to HDTV.  It's true.
I love House Hunters.
I love Love it or List it.
I love Property Brothers.
I love them all.
But if I hear ONE more person say something like:
"We have to have an open floor plan, I just want everything to flow, you know, for entertaining."
So you are going to buy/design your house because of the way you want
to entertain?  Sheesh people.  What about your family?  And function?

When I first saw the Farmhouse, one of the first things I noticed was that it is slightly compartmentalized.
Read: Not an open floor plan.
And I was sold.

Because, call me crazy, but I kind of don't want my kitchen to be the first thing people see when they walk in, am I right?  I have 5 kids under the age of 3 here, and they aren't even the messy one.

I also loved the fact that you could see all the way through to the dining room and the huge back windows as soon as you walked in.
So I vowed to make the dining room Fabulous.
Because you CAN keep a dining room clean, most of the time anyways.

Since I was working with a beige background (floors, walls) which I can't change for a while....I knew something had to jump up and scream BRIGHT!

And here she is:  her name is Miss Pink (even though she is technically Raspberry).
 And I love her.
Alot.
Paired with some simple but contrasting bentwood chairs, and a few fun
accessories.....I think she looks awesome!

But the best part about the dining room?
It's function.
When I saw these shelves I immediately pictured scripture/prayer/FHE nights
in our bright pretty room....with everything we needed right at our fingertips.

With Me and Hughes and all of the children gathered round Miss Pink.
Happy and Engaged.

And totally focused.

Okay, kidding on that last part.

But, we do gather here every single night except for Friday and Saturday
(those are the nights I allow Los Favritos or Sushiya to feed the family)
(and then we watch Dance Moms and eat in front of the TV)
(I'm not afraid to be real here people.)

But Sunday through Thursday, at 5pm sharp...you can find us here.
We eat, we study, we talk, and we pray.
And this room is definitely the heart of the Farmhouse.
And that makes me very happy.
Dear Miss Pink:
Here's to many, many years
gathered around you with all
of my precious little ones.
You are easily my favorite spot in the house.
Thanks for looking so awesome!
