A Tale of Two Babies.

Just look at these two blue-eyed babies.

With their little round faces. And hair getting lighter as the days go by.

They almost sort of look like they could be related.

Oh wait. They are.

Above is 1. My grown-up, married, living a state away, independent, Lovely 1.

At the top is Carver. Carver is 1's baby. Carver came out looking like his Dad. And he still does.

Carver also looks like 1. And I know little boys should look like their Dad's. And he does look like his Dad. But I would be lying if my heart didn't sing at this baby-perfect resemblance.

And now to my 1:

Dear 1,

Life goes by so quickly. I still remember the day this picture was taken like it was last week. It was taken in Olan Mills. I know, nobody who is born after 1985 remembers Olan Mills. But that is where all of your first pictures were taken.

And that cute little jumper. In 1989, Osh Kosh was the bomb. You had about 7 little Osh Kosh jumpers just like the one in the picture. And you wore them all the time. Oh the joy's of living in Arizona. Jumpers no matter what the month!

You were the happiest baby, such gorgeous, gorgeous blue eyes. And goodness knows you loved to pose for pictures, even then.

It honestly sometimes feels like this day was really last week.

1, I know you are probably already starting to realize how fast time goes by when you have a child. It goes by in the blink of an eye. The blink of an eye.

Cherish every little thing he does. Take a picture every hour. Hold him no matter how much the carpet needs vacuumed. Read to him every day and he will remember it always.

In other words, keep being exactly the kind of Mom that you are. You are such a conscientious and joyful mother. I love you so much.

Love,

Mom
